My Formula 5000
Prior to joining the UOP Shadow Formula I team, Tom Pryce had a
mixed career consisting of Formula Ford, Formulas III and II races.
That is, until he won at Brands Hatch in a supporting race to the Race
of Champions, a non-championship Formula I event. It was a healthy
15.5 second win. To date, he’s captured a victory at the same Race of
Champions this year, as well as sixth at Belgium, sixth in Holland,
fourth in the German G.P., fifth in Austria and sixth in the Italian G.P.
The eight points garnered in the World Championship events to date
(Oct. 4) have him in tenth place with one event left (the United States
Grand Prix at Watkins Glen). Pryce has a controlled, spectacular style
of driving that bears watching, especially if you’re sitting on one of the
slower corners at Riverside today(1975, not on entry list, had Jody
Scheckter in 00).
